Domitille Jordan

After beginning her studies in France, first in Annecy and then in Lyon, Domitille moved to London to study at the Royal College of Music. There she earned a Bachelor of Performance with distinction as well as a Master’s degree in Orchestral Performance, studying first with Hélène Dautry and later with Thomas Carroll. Receiving a merit scholarship from the college enabled her to finance her studies, and during that time she also won the Postgraduate Performance Award from the Musicians Benevolent Fund. Through the Erasmus exchange program, she spent a semester studying at the Berlin University of the Arts in the class of Konstantin Heidrich. Interested in teaching, she subsequently completed a Master’s degree in Music Pedagogy at the Lausanne University of Music under François Salque. As an orchestral musician, Domitille has performed with numerous youth orchestras, including the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra, the French Youth Orchestra, the Italian Youth Orchestra, and the Vienna Youth Orchestra, before becoming a trainee with the English National Opera in London and later with the Basel Symphony Orchestra, where she subsequently worked under contract. She has already appeared at prestigious festivals such as the BBC Proms in London, the Salzburg Festival in Austria, and Lorin Maazel’s Castleton Festival in the United States, and has performed in many of Europe’s leading concert halls, including the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and the Musikverein in Vienna. She has worked under the baton of renowned conductors such as Bernard Haitink, Lorin Maazel, Herbert Blomstedt, Philippe Jordan, Gordan Nikolić, Vladimir Jurowski, and Sir Roger Norrington. Domitille now collaborates regularly with the Basel Symphony Orchestra, as well as the BBC Symphony Orchestra in London, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, and the Bern Chamber Orchestra, where she serves as a substitute principal cellist.
