Hugues Dufourt is a French composer (born 1943) and one of the founding figures of French spectral music. He draws his inspiration from “art, architecture, and philosophy, and delves into sound as a physical and psychological experience.” Titles like “To Brother-in-Law Kronos,” “Sea Calm,” and “Restless Love” reveal the Goethe/Schubert connection. Nonken plays virtuosically and makes the piano resonate. Not easy, but the challenge is worth it.
